Jazz Basket Donations

Jazz Basket Donations

Hello all,
We are in need of your help.  As you know every year we hold two jazz events to raise money for the band and the next one is coming soon on Nov 16th.  Part of the event is a silent auction.  Whether or not your child is in the Jazz band, we would love if you could either donate something or ask for donations.  Below are the details and link to sign up, please read through all the instructions so you don' t miss something.  Please consider helping are kids out in this very special and fun way.  Watch for more details for tickets and such coming soon.
Thank you,
Reeda Baturevich

Donations: With the holidays approaching, the Jazz Dinner Dance could be a one-stop shopping place for family members looking to find great gifts for one another! Be creative with the basket ideas below or invent your own basket by selecting and filling in the comments for the 'Create Your Own'. Try to fill a whole basket, or partial if necessary. Have something laying around the house? We also accept single items (we will put them in a basket with related items). You may fill and assemble your own basket or we will provide a basket and assemble it for you. All donations go to support Liberty Jazz Bands.
Items may be purchased directly or donations gathered from merchants. Please use the donation letter when gathering donations. We have a donation letter you can give to businesses. Please contact Diane Hunke (contact info below) to get any letters that you need.
Please indicate in the comments on your signup which items you'll be supplying. If we need to open additional slots for each basket, we can.
Help Assemble Baskets: Have a couple of extra hours? Sign up to help assemble baskets! A fun time guaranteed! We need several helpers per date listed in the signup. Basket assembly will happen at Diane Hunke's house.  Dinner will be served.
Drop off: All donations for baskets should be dropped off before the Booster Meeting on Nov 7th  at 6:30.   If you unable to be at the meeting arrangements may be made to drop off at the home of Diane Hunke, (refer to email for address)   no later than Wednesday Nov 7 or sooner if possible.
If you are dropping off a fully assembled basket, you may drop off no later than at the Marching Band Banquet on Tuesday Nov 13th.
Please try to minimize the amount of things dropped off in the band room as they will be using the band room for Scarborough Fair as well as all the normal activities and there is a real risk of it getting lost or hidden under something during the busy time.   If you do have to drop something off there, please let Diane or Reeda know so they can grab it as soon as possible
PLEASE INCLUDE WITH YOUR BASKET: A paper that lists the items in the basket, your name and contact info, the total value of the items, and any businesses or individuals who gave donations.
Drawing for 4 Free Tickets to the Jazz Dinner Dance!
How to earn drawing entries* by donating to the Silent Auction:
  • Basket of items = 4 entries
  • A single stand-alone auction item (such as an artwork) = 3 entries
  • Gift certificates = 1 entry for every $25 (i.e. a $100 gift card would earn 4 entries)
  • A single item that gets placed in a basket = 1 entry
*Items/baskets must be dropped off by November 7th to be entered into the drawing.
Questions? If you have any questions, please contact Diane Hunke: dhstampsalot@yahoo.com  or the band boosters at libertybandboosters@gmail.com.

Would you please consider...

Would you please consider...

Good Morning Friends!
I hope you have a terrific day!   As you go about your day would you please consider helping out at the Air Force Concessions on Thursday?  This fundraiser is usually a lot of fun and brings in much needed money that benefits our whole band program.

We only need 4 more people.
  •  2 cashiers - my favorite job! (I'd be there if I wasn't told to be resting).  Just press the buttons to add up the total, take the money, and give change.  A lot of the time it is as easy as swiping the card.
  • Head Cashier -  another one of my favorite jobs!  Just like cashier, but you get to count the money in the beginning and the end.  :-)
  • Manager Trainee -  Due to people graduating out over the last couple years,  we only have a couple people who have managed before and they are crazy busy people.  We would like to have a team of several managers so that can rotate and not be so dependent on just a couple.  It really isn't hard and we walk through the steps with you.
Please sign up by clicking the link below.

Thanks in advance!

MB State Itinerary

MB State Itinerary

Hello Marching Band Families!

It's hard to believe the end of the season is almost here!  It's been a great ride, and we're looking forward to putting our finishing touches on "Color Theory," and seeing how we finish.  The staff feels great about our progress the last few days, and we're very excited to have two more weeks to make lots of adjustments/changes/tweeks to the show before finals.

Attached is the Itinerary for State Championships, on November 3rd.  State Championships this year is held at the Air Force Academy Football Stadium.  Make sure to plan for extra time to get on base (even if you hold a military ID), as there will be long lines at the gate.

Because Infinite Campus won't let me send multiple attachments, click HERE to purchase tickets in advance for Semi-Finals and Finals from CBA.  Not only are these tickets cheaper than buying at the Gate, but it also allows you to skip the long lines to buy tickets.

Two more quick notes-

1) You will notice on the ticket purchase website that State Quarter-Finals are Friday night.  We will not perform at Quarter Finals, as our score was high enough to automatically qualify for Semi-Finals on Saturday.  You and your student are welcome to go watch and support 4A/5A Quarter-Finalist Bands on Friday night, though.  With that said, we do have an early morning on Saturday and it's a VERY long day, and I'm fully endorsing your student get to bed early on Friday, November 2nd.

2) Watch for emails soon from the band boosters about RSVP-ing for the Marching Band Banquet.  There are two components to the MB Banquet, a dinner, and then awards.  EVERYONE in Marching Band should attend the Awards portion to celebrate our season and our band family.  The dinner is NOT provided, and requires RSVP-ing and has a modest cost associated with it.  Again, all MB students should attend the awards portion of the Banquet, regardless if they are eating with us.  RSVP is required to attend the dinner portion of the Banquet...there will be no "at the door" sales.  Again, watch for emails from the band boosters for this, and pay close attention to the due date on the form when it goes out.

As always, let me know if you have any questions.

  Arapahoe Spectator Parking
We have a new parking arrangement this year. Bus parking will be in the Littleton High School lots accessed from East Powers Avenue. All buses are requested to enter the Littleton High School Main West lot by traveling East on Powers Ave. from Broadway, one block north of Littleton Blvd. All equipment trucks and trailers will park in the parking lot in between Littleton High School and the Stadium on the northside of Littleton Blvd. Spectator parking has been moved offsite for the safety of students. However, there will be approximately 40 handicap parking spaces adjacent to the stadium for handicap only vehicles. Unless you have a handicap placard or a handicap license plate, do not come down Littleton Boulevard to park! All spectator parking can be accessed off of Broadway. Please see the attached maps for locations of equipment, bus and spectator parking.

Spectator Parking will be in several different lots along Broadway and Littleton Boulevard, all within walking distance of the Stadium. Please reference attached map for the following lot locations:
1. Stevinson Imports at 5500 S. Broadway (just north of Powers on east side of Broadway. There is a banner that says “we have moved” on the building).
2. Wells Fargo parking lot at 5601 S. Broadway (access off of Powers Avenue west of Broadway)
3. Car Max at 5850 S. Broadway (park in the far east part of the parking lot)
4. Swedish Medicine/Orchard Medical at 191 E. Orchard Road (2 blocks south of the stadium-just east of Broadway)
5. East Elementary at 5933 S. Fairfield Street (accessed off of W. Broadmoor drive on the west side of Broadway)
6. Doctor’s Care at 609 W. Littleton Blvd (2 blocks west of Broadway).
7. Pyramid Liquor at 599 W. Littleton Blvd (2 blocks west of Broadway)
8. Public Service Credit Union/Plus One Tires at 5800 S. Broadway after 1 PM (1 block south of Littleton Blvd.)

All parking restrictions in the area will be enforced. There is no parking in the lots of the apartment complexes near the stadium. Please be aware there are time restrictions on some streets near the stadium. Illegally parked vehicles will be subject to ticketing and/or towing.

Colorguard Uniform Labeling

Colorguard Uniform Labeling
All colorguard members should have received their performance uniforms and a uniform garment bag.  The garment bag has a label with their name and a number on it.  They were asked to then label their uniforms with only the number that matches the one on the uniform bag.  If there is not a tag in the uniform Geoff has suggested just adding a piece of masking tape inside the uniforms and putting the number on there.  It may not be ideal but hopefully that will help if we should have any missing items.  Please assist your student if needed and remind them this should be done by Friday's game.

Also, if for any reason your student needs new dance boots they are available multiple places online, including amazon.  The main order was done at the beginning of the season but if they outgrow them during the year the easiest way to take care of that is to order them yourself.  Please check the sizing charts as they are not standard shoe size. (Sansha Soho Lace-up jazz boot.)

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Regionals Volunteer Workers Needed

Regionals Volunteer Workers Needed

Dear Band Families,

Each year for the past 5 years, the Liberty Band program has had the privilege and opportunity to host the Colorado Bandmasters Association Southern Regional for Marching Bands, a necessary step to qualify for the Colorado State Marching Band Championships.  This year, the Southern Regional is on Wednesday, October 17th.

"Regionals" is a big event for us to host, this year we will host 23 Marching Bands from the Southern Region of the state, made up of over 2,000 student performers.  Regionals is HUGE fundraiser for the band program; we've been very blessed to profit well over $10,000 each of the years that we've hosted.  The money we earn from Regionals goes to the Liberty Band Booster general budget which is then used to support ALL of the band program; while Regionals is a Marching Band event, the money we raise does not go exclusively to our marching band.  The funds are used to support everything we do in the Liberty Band program: purchase new instruments, new music, music stands, buses for trips, food, hiring clinicians, paying for registration fees for contests and festivals...the list really does go on and on.  Lastly, it really is a privilege to host Regionals, and is not something that we are guaranteed to host each year; we need to put our best foot forward if we wish to keep hosting this event.

This year, we are especially short on volunteers for our evening shifts.  PLEASE, please consider looking at your schedule and volunteering to make the day a success.

Please email me with any questions you might have, and thank you for considering signing up to work with us to make the day successful and profitable.

Respectfully,

Sean Hedding
Director of Bands
Liberty High School

Regionals Itinerary

Regionals Itinerary

Marching Band Families,

Attached is the itinerary for Regionals (next Wednesday, October 17th).  PLEASE, please consider signing up to help; we are especially short on volunteers for all of our evening shifts.

Regionals is a BIG event for the band program, we will host 23 different bands, totaling over 2,000 student performers, and many more audience members.  Regionals is also a HUGE fundraiser for the Band Program, and helps keep our out-of-pocket costs down.  While I know that our $500 marching band course fee is far from cheap, our big fundraisers such as Regionals, March-a-thon, and the Mattress Fundraiser (coming in the Spring) is what allows us to charge what we do, and offer as many performing opportunities as we do in the band program.   Believe it or not, other high schools charge more than we do for Marching Band.

Please consider skipping watching our performance at Regionals (see us at Douglas County, Arapahoe, or STATE instead!), and please help us make the day a big success by working with us.  Hosting Regionals is a privilege, and is not something that is guaranteed to be ours to host from year to year.  We need to put our best foot forward if we want to continue hosting.

The itinerary for the Arapahoe Marching Invitational will be sent out later this week, as soon as we receive final details from their event coordinators...at this time we don't know when our performance time will be.

Best regards,

Sean Hedding and Sarah Romero

Volunteers/Donations needed for Food Crew for Football Friday and DCMI Saturday

Volunteers/Donations needed for Food Crew for Football Friday and DCMI Saturday

Hello all,
I know you have received lots of requests lately, but I have just a few more. Come join us on the food crew for DCMI. We always have lots fun.  There are also a few other needs for NUT FREE desserts and additional help.  We will be loading as much as possible for Saturday on Friday night.

Marching Band This Week - Sent Monday Oct 8

Marching Band This Week  - Sent Monday Oct 8

Hello Marching Band Families!  We're heading into the craziest part of the season with 4 performances over the span of 9 days, 3 of them being competitions, all beginning this Friday.  Please make sure your student is staying on top of their homework, is dressing appropriately for the weather (Fall Weather in Colorado has officially started it seems), and most importantly, that they are getting enough sleep!  It's more important now than ever that your student is healthy, and AT REHEARSAL!  We've got less than a month until State Championships/the End of Marching season!  (It goes by so fast!)

As a reminder, Regionals is quickly approaching (next Wednesday), and there are LOTS of positions we need to fill to make the day a success.  Please consider taking some time off of work to volunteer, we greatly need your help and there's MANY ways for you to help us out!

Schedule for this week:
(Regular Rehearsals)
Tuesday-3:30-6:00
Wednesday 3:15-5:15
Thursday 3:30-6:00

FRIDAY- Football Game with TMS Band
3:30-4:45 Rehearse/Run through music with TMS
4:45-6:30 Dinner (Provided by Band Boosters, Pizza!)
6:30- Line up and go to Football Game*

*Weather permitting- we will perform our entire show at halftime for TMS!  We will wear our WHITE tops for this game.  Students are encouraged to wear under armor-type of base layer under their uniform to stay warm, and are also encouraged to bring jackets, hats, blankets, etc. to stay warm in the stands (the current projected high temperature for the day is only 54, a low of 36).  This is  our last football game of the season, and we're hoping to perform the entire show (with lots of additions/changes from Legacy) for the school.

SATURDAY- Douglas County Marching Invitational
The entire Itinerary is attached to this email.  This should be a Prelims/Finals show, unless the weather dictates that we only do prelims.  The weather does not look good for this day, with a high of 44 and a 60% chance of PM rain storms.  Odds are, if the festival is going to continue despite the weather, we will perform (it's good for us to perform in competition settings despite the weather...State is November 3rd, and who knows what the weather will do to us in early November). Again, students are encouraged to wear under armor under their uniforms to stay warm, and bring jackets/warm weather gear to wear when we're not performing.

Next Week (details to follow)
Wednesday- Regionals, Performance @ 7:30 (This is a one-and-done, not Prelims/Finals. Please consider working instead of watching!)
Saturday- Arapahoe Marching Festival, Prelims/Finals

After Arapahoe we only have one competition left.....STATE!  Here's to the mad dash to the end!  As always, please let me know if you have any questions.

It is Regionals time!... and Liberty Band could use your help!

It is Regionals time!... and Liberty Band could use your help!

Hello Band Family (Both current and Alumni)

It is that time a year again and 2018 Regionals is gearing up and we definitely can use your help. Below are two links.  One for volunteer time and the other for donations.  How ever you can help us is greatly appreciated.   As you probably already know Regionals is one our largest fundraisers it greatly benefits Liberty's whole band program, not just marching band.   An event like this takes a whole lot of us to make it run properly and smoothly.   Therefore we are asking marching parents, concert parents, alumni parents all to pitch in where ever they possibly can.

This weeks schedule 9-17-18 post

Good morning everyone! Just a very quick reminder for this weeks schedule. Remember that Saturday's Football game got bumped up to a night game, it is no longer a day game.

Weekday rehearsal is as normal. Tues and Thurs are 3:30 to 6 and Weds is 3:15 to 5:30.

Saturday, September 22nd, rehearsal starts at 1 pm and runs until 4 pm. Then the Boosters will feed the kids dinner and then there is the LHS football game after that at 6 pm. The kids will do their Pep Band playing and then march during halftime and then Pep Band the second half. Look for an ending time of the game around 9. Mr. Hedding will send out a Remind about 15 min out on the pickup time of your student.

Questions? Give Mr. Hedding an email with those.

We have a huge project to make 51 large “fitted sheets” to fit on 17 backgrounds.     We have been sewing all week and currently, we are not quite third of the way done. We could use your help!  We need people who can run a sewing machine... you don’t have to be experienced at all... just guide the material through the machine.  We also need people to
•pin fabric together
• pull elastic through casings
•and even fold these big things
We will be sewing the following times this coming week.   Please feel free to come and go during these times...we appreciate any time you can give.  Please give us a quick heads up on Facebook or email to let me know to expect you.   Feel free to bring a snack to share during the weekday sessions.

• Saturday 9/15 (Sew-a-thon) 10AM-4PM.   (We will also Potluck  Brunch during this time to keep the energy up...🙂  We will clean up at 4:00 and head over to watch the final run through)
• Mon 9/17  6-9 PM
• Tues 9/18 9:30 AM - 2:00 PM
• Wed 9/19 6-9 PM
• Thurs 9/20 9:30 AM - 2:00 PM
• Fri 9/21 9:30 AM - 2:00 PM
• Sat 9/22  9 AM - 12 PM

General Meeting Summary - 9/11/18

General Meeting Summary - 9/11/18

Liberty Band Booster
General Membership Meeting
September 11, 2018

Donny Baker opened the meeting up and went over the details of what the missions of Liberty Band and the Boosters are. Liberty Bands mission is to provide a quality instrumental music education for all students. Liberty Band Boosters is a 501(c)(3), this gives the organization flexibility to do wonderful things for the bands at LHS.

Reeda Baturevich thanked all of those that have given time, food, batteries and so much more to the bands so far. So, if you were not there, THANK YOU for helping! She gave an insight into some upcoming events that we will need more help on. One of those is CBA Southern Regionals Marching Festival on October 17th at LHS. Here are few of the others opportunities she spoke about.
  • We are in need of managers for the AFA Concessions, this is one of the more fun ways to volunteer and raise money for the band. The only date we know as of this letter is Oct 25th, it is a hockey game.
  • Sewing Section - Now til the beginning of Oct - Sewing the sheets for the marching band props.
  • Building Section - Always going - Building/repairing/painting, really any needs of the band that require tools and lots of elbow grease.
  • Jazz Dinner Dance - November - Donations for food, auction baskets and more.

Crystal Ross went into greater detail on the needs for Regionals. Here are the high points from her talk.
  • This is the largest fundraiser for the LHS Band we have. It provides funds for ALL bands in the LHS Band Program.
  • Lots of jobs, keep an eye out for an email later this month. Please get involved.
  • Needs - Extension cords and power strips, Dinner for judges, Concessions items, Volunteer meals and snacks, ATVs – need use of 2 for the day and Additional needs we’ll add to Sign Up Genius.

Lesley Kelly gave information on the financial aspect and health of Liberty Band Boosters. We are in the black and on track to meet the budget set. If you have further questions on this part, please contact Lesley via the Liberty Band Boosters email.

Amy Kreimeyer let us in on what is going on in fundraising land. Here are the high points of the knowledge she laid upon us.
  • Scrip/Scrip Now - make your everyday spending work for your students accounts needs. This is the easiest and truly most impactful this you can do to get the money for your child's band needs. Here a link to a video that goes deeper into how Scrip works. https://youtu.be/G6FbRjCwaGI
  • Entertainment Books - These are discount coupons in a book that cover a great number of things, Book runs $30 and your student gets $12 of that for every book they sell. This is happening right now. If you have not seen the info on these come home with your student, please get in contact with Amy.
  • Greenery - there will be more info coming on this in late October.

Sandy Weber went over the uniform care for both marching uniforms and concert uniforms. PLEASE if you have not seen the care instructions, go here: http://liberty.band/resources/documents/#general , scroll down and you can find the sare instructions you seek.

Clay Allison touched on communications, things like emails, Facebook and Remind. If you need help on getting signed up for Remind go here:

The biggest thing he mentioned was DO NOT POST ANY VIDEOS OF THE MARCHING BAND UNTIL AFTER THE FIRST COMPETITION!

The directors of the band took a quick moment to clean office. Sean Hedding asked that everyone gets involved in Scrip, it is easy money into your student's account. He also reminded every one of the Dallas Due dates (Oct 1st, Nov 15th, Jan 15th) if you have any questions or concerns with Dallas, please email Mr. Hedding ASAP. Sarah Romero thanked everyone for the kindness that has been shown to her. She loves her new position here with LHS Band and loves teaching music to your wonderful children.

Donny ended the meeting with a reminder that the next meeting is November 7th and we need a great turn out at these meetings. We as LBB provide a ton of info at these and it is great to see the wonderful faces of this band family.
