2019 Pit Crew

Special thanks to our official 2019 Pit Crew (see list below) and of course our solid list of substitutes! I am humbled and grateful to serve as your Pit Boss. We have an exciting season ahead of us! As mentioned in an email last weekend, the Pit Crew will be meeting on Tuesday, September 10th in the LHS band room at 5:00 PM sharp to discuss assignments, logistics, equipment, safety, and answer questions. We will then proceed to the bus lot at 5:30 and practice moving the pit, props, and other equipment into performance position during the band's latter portion of their rehearsal. Please find a way to attend as it is difficult to move equipment with missing members. Please look at the Pit Crew member list below and if you haven't checked your email lately, please do so for season opening information. Also, I need all pit crew members to join our Remind group. Most communications will be delivered through Remind. A Remind invitation was sent out last Sunday evening and we need everybody on the list below to accept their invitations to the group. Substitutes will not receive communications unless they are scheduled for upcoming performances. If your name is on the list below and you have not checked your email or accepted your Remind invitation, please do so as soon as possible. If you are on the list and haven't seen any of this, please text me at 719.332.3780 and let me know. Thanks!!

Sew at home

Sew much accomplished. Sooo much left to do. Please comment below (or text Karla Kelsch 719-232-1567) if you are able to take some sewing home and bring it back by Tuesday, Sept 3 next week. All we're doing is hemming the sides of long strips of fabric with a straight stitch (see second photo). Easy peesy

Entertainment Book Communication Email from 8/24/19

Band Parents,

First off, let us start by saying THANK YOU for all you do to support your students! You are passionate to see them all succeed, and as a board, we have an equal passion toward that common goal.

With that said, we have heard your feedback and thank you for your voice and suggestions. We'd like to take this opportunity to explain the reasoning behind the recent change in the Entertainment book fundraiser.

Please know that all decisions made by the board are done with the intent to balance the needs of the program and your children. This change was made with that same intent in mind.

Let us explain just a few of the reasons we decided on this change:
  • Costs are consistently rising for all Liberty Bands. There are so many things we'd like to accomplish for the current and future success of the program. In order to make these goals a reality, funds are necessary.
  • The current state of overall funds is very low at this moment in time and we are doing what we can to rectify that situation.
  • As you know, having a competitive band at many levels requires a LOT of man power and volunteers. Having inconsistent fundraising guidelines contributes to the man hours required for these fine folks that help our students and the program. Our strategic plan is to have ALL fundraisers aligned.
  • Things are ever-changing. We understand this is one of the first big changes that have been made. Please know that again, it is with good intent, and it will not be the last. We will always be reviewing our strategies to ensure we are making the best investments and decisions that will benefit the children and the program the most.
We offer many fundraisers throughout the year in order to provide your students with the opportunity to both raise money for a program they love, and to build their student allocation funds. We encourage you and your student to participate in as many fundraisers as possible as every little bit counts!

The official launch for this fundraiser will occur Monday during class where information and books will be provided to the students. Information will be given to guard members during today's practice to ensure all students are able to participate.

Thank you for trusting us as your board. We do have your children and the program top of mind with these decisions. We have the BIG picture in mind and we THANK YOU for your continued support!

Go Lancers!
Parents,

Marching band uniform fittings will be on the following dates in the band room:

Friday, 9/6:  3:00-6:00 pm   ***(Please no Freshmen or Sophomores until after 4:30)***
Saturday, 9/7:  9:00am - until finished.

We are also looking for parent and student volunteers during these blocks to help with the fittings.  This is a great way for students to get volunteer hours!  Check out the sign-up link below to get involved.
