Help still needed for Air Force Concessions

Good Afternoon,
Welcome to the new week.   I am just writing to let you know we are still in need of help for this Friday's Air Force Concessions  this Friday Feb 2nd.   We also have slots available for future dates.

Air Force Concessions is one of our fundraisers that we do each year that helps keep our fees low.   It benefits the Liberty Band Booster organization who in turn helps support all of our bands (concert, symphonic, wind, jazz, marching, ensembles, etc.) and our wonderful kids.  It is a great activity to do with your kid, if he/she is already signed up, or on your own.  There are two spots for volunteers that help supervise the kids in the concession stand.  There are also several spots for cashiers which you sit in a booth and run a cash register.  It is easy peasy, and you get to know some other band parents as well.

Right now the kids are showing us adults up.  They are signing up for the coveted student spots, earning volunteer hours for lettering, and doing the majority of the work.  So if at all possible, we would rather not let them down by not having enough adult volunteers to complete the job.  I promise you that once you are there, it really is kind of fun.

Below our the links for this Friday's concessions as well as the future dates.  Also is the link for the food handlers training that you need to complete once a year.  Please don't forget to wear your hat.

Thanks you all so much,
Reeda Baturevich

email from Mrs. Matzke dated Jan 11th

Hello  Band Parents!

Happy New Year!  We are off to a
great start in 2018!  Third quarter is
the busiest time in the band world-concerts, contests, festivals, solo and
ensemble, large ensembles, fundraising and more.  Here are some things to keep everyone up to
date.

LARGE ENSEMBLES

Our large ensembles have started!
We have a flute choir, clarinet choir, saxophone ensemble, trumpet
choir, horn ensemble, trombone choir and a tuba/euphonium ensemble.  Each group is coached by a professional on
that instrument.  Each group gets 8-10
rehearsals-once a week.  It is like
getting group lessons once a week.  There
is a cost to participate in Large Ensembles.
It is $50.  Students can use their
student accounts to participate if they want.
Large Ensembles is a GREAT opportunity for our kids.  It helps them become better musicians and it
helps our band program continue on the road to success.  It is not too late for your student to sign
up but they need to do so by next Friday, Jan. 19.

INSTRUMENT RENTAL FEES

If your child uses a Liberty owned instrument, it is time to pay your
second semester rental fee.  Technically,
the instrument rental contracts say the fee is due by January 15.  Please have the fees turned in by January
30.

FEES

Please check your fees.  Some
students still owe marching band fees for 2017 and band course fees.  Letters were sent home from Liberty High School
stating that fees needed to be paid in full by January 31st or it
may impact your child’s ability to sign up for classes.

SAVE THE DATE

MARCH 10 is our 2nd Annual Mattress Fundraiser from 10am-4pm
in the commons at LHS.

Swinging Sweets Basket Donation Info

SWINGING SWEETS
Swinging' Sweets is just around the corner! It's time to get started on soliciting and putting baskets together for the Silent Auction! We are looking for approximately 40 baskets to put in the auction and need band families to help solicit and donate items. Putting a basket together is always fun, and it is amazing how many items are always donated by local businesses! All donations go to support Liberty Jazz Bands.

Donate a Basket
  • Sign Up: Be creative with the basket ideas below. Select which basket you would like to donate in this Sign Up Genius. You can also invent your own basket by selecting and filling in the comments for the 'Create Your Own'. We need you to sign up here as soon as possible so we know how many baskets to expect*. Please indicate in the comments on your signup which items you'll be supplying. If we need to open additional slots for each basket, we can.

  • Fill the Basket: Try to fill a whole basket, or partial if necessary. We also accept single items (we will put them in a basket with related items). You may fill and assemble your own basket or we will provide a basket and assemble it for you. Items may be purchased directly or donations gathered from merchants. Consider buying one item and soliciting the rest!

  • Solicit Donations: Please use the donation letter when gathering donations. We have a donation letter you can give to businesses. Please contact Diane Hunke or Lesa Brown (contact info below) to get any letters that you need. If you would like to learn how to solicit donations, contact Diane Hunke.

  • Give Us Information: A paper that lists the items in the basket, your name and contact info, the total value of the items, and any businesses or individuals who gave donations.

Drawing for 4 Free Tickets to the Swingin' Sweets!
How to earn drawing entries* by donating to the Silent Auction:
  • Basket of items = 4 entries
  • A single stand-alone auction item (such as an artwork) = 3 entries
  • Gift certificates = 1 entry for every $25 (i.e. a $100 gift card would earn 4 entries)
  • A single item that gets placed in a basket = 1 entry
  • 1 additional entry for each day the items or baskets are dropped off prior to due date of February 23rd.
*Items/baskets must be dropped off by Friday, February 23rd to be entered into the drawing.

Help Assemble Baskets
Have a couple of extra hours? Sign up to help assemble baskets! A fun time guaranteed! We need two helpers per date listed in the signup. Basket assembly will happen at Diane Hunke's house.

*We occasionally must hold a basket back for the next event if we receive it too late or if we have too many baskets. Please know that we will use every basket eventually and all donations are appreciated!

February Air Force Concession Dates and signups

AIR FORCE CONCESSIONS
Greetings folks,
Busy February is upon us soon.  We have several (4) AF concession opportunities coming up soon.  Encourage your kiddos to get those volunteer hours and come enjoy an evening out at the game.  Please don't forget to wear your hat and please take the food handler's test if you haven't taken it this school year.   http://liberty.band/resources/documents/   go to General Section and see AFA Concession Training Handout.

We also need people who would be willing to train as a Manager for AF concessions.  There is NO inventory and is mainly just helping setup and organize and oversee the kiddos.  If interested, contact our AF Concession Liaison, Donny Baker via text at 719-213-5406 or email at donnybak@msn.com.
