Marching Band Blast October 3, 2017

Hello Marching Band Parents!
As Mrs. Matzke stated in the previous email, there is a lot of information being given at once.  Please read to the bottom of each communication so that nothing falls through the cracks!

DCMI MARCHING FESTIVAL VOLUNTEER AND DONATION SIGNUP

Thank you all who helped with food at the Legacy Marching Festival!!  We will need help again with food for the Douglas County Marching Invitational (DCMI) on Oct 14th.   We need people to prep food a couple days ahead of time, people to donate dessert, and we are in need of 10 people to come help prepare, serve, and clean-up at the invitational.  Please signup following the link below.   NOTE:  If you are preparing food ahead of time PLEASE leave your cell number in the comments.  This helps Renee with planning logistics in getting the food to and from you.

REGIONALS!!!

ATTENTION!!!!!!  WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!  SIGN UP FOR REGIONALS TODAY!!!  A couple of times every year we really need for ALL the parents to come together and help the marching band.  One of those times is band camp week, the other is Regionals.  We really need every parent to try to help in some capacity if they possibly can.  This is a coveted and  huge fundraiser for us.   It is a very big deal and we would like to have all our volunteer slots filled.    If we have open slots the integrity of the competition is then compromised/ as is our credibility to do it again, so please look at your calendar and both tabs of the signup sheet and try to figure a time/ donation that would work best for  you.  This fundraiser does not just benefit the marching band, but all of our bands.  We need these large fundraisers to offset some of the costs that it takes to run such a large and successful band program.

AFA CONCESSIONS

Every year we do concessions for some of the Air Force Academy Basketball and Hockey games to raise money for the general band fund.  This has been a great way to earn for some extra things for the band while keeping our parent costs low.   It usually is a fun time and we get to work with some of our students.  Please consider volunteering for one of these concession events this year.   Our first date is Friday Oct 13th.  It is a Hockey Game against Arizona State.   Call time is at 5 PM and it will run until somewhere between 9-10 PM.   The students (must be 16) can volunteer on the signup on the band room door.   Attached is this email is the food handler training.  It's a great way for students to earn volunteer hours for band lettering or other volunteer commitments.  This must be done and brought with you upon arrival for both student and parent volunteers.  To be a  parent volunteer, please click the link below

Next AFA Concession date: Tuesday Nov 21 5 PM- approx 9:30PM

We have attached the Food Handler Training Document to this email for your convenience.
